The Priory Day Nursery
read moreBristol Childcare is a family run business with three nurseries across Bristol: The Court House in Knowle, Mornington House in Clifton and The Priory in Filton. We have over 48 years of running nurseries and our core values remain the same. Our ethos is small, homely and flexible and we achieve this through our focus on child-led care. Our nurseries feel like home from home with cosy rooms and the welcoming smell of meals cooked on the premises using homegrown fruit and veg; we promote life skills using traditional arts and crafts; we choose natural resources, encourage a love of the outdoors and champion a focus on the traditional ways of doing things to reduce our environmental impact.
About Us
read moreBristol Childcare is a family run business. It started in 1971 when Bruce and Sue Farr opened Mornington House, one of the first day nurseries in Bristol. Over forty years later Bruce and Sue are still involved in the nurseries along with their daughter Saffia who is now Managing Director of Bristol Childcare. This longevity means that we really understand children and their needs and the breadth of experience across the family means that we can run a sustainable business while keeping a homely, personal feel.
Education
read moreOur pedagogical approach (how we teach) is to use Anna Ephgrave's Planning in the Moment, creating a stimulating environment with interesting open-ended resources and "loose parts". We believe that children learn through play and reach their intended goals using imagination, fun and exploration. At Bristol Childcare nurseries children are free to express themselves and experiment. Learning is achieved through a diverse range of activities, songs, games, stories, creativity and spontaneous play, inside and outside in the gardens.
