SELECT works closely with local government, the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, UK Government and European Union to promote issues of importance to SELECT and to supply authoritative input on behalf of the industry.

Founded in 1900 as The Electrical Contractors' Association of Scotland, SELECT became the first trade association in the world to serve the electrical industry. Members carry out a wide range of design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning work and each is accredited to one or more of ten technical disciplines. Member companies account for around 90% of all electrical installation work carried out in Scotland, have a collective turnover of around 1 billion and provide employment for 15,000.
