Lionel Broughton began the business with his 1st car, a Ford Anglia, and increased the fleet to include Ford Zephyer's and Zodiacs and at one time rented Bedford Dormobiles ( Motor-homes ) for the summer season holidays. His son, Stewart Broughton, joined him in 1977; working together they increased the size of the family business but not to the detriment of quality service. Since then Stewart, now with his own son, Philip, joined the United Rental Group, part of the parent firm Kenning Car and Van Rental, now owned by Sixt Rent A Car.
