read moreJohn Atherton served his apprenticeship in a small independent garage before working as a technician for several marques in franchise dealerships. He progressed to workshop foreman then service manager for a world-wide Rover dealership before establishing his own business. In 1994 John set up on his own with a trolley Jack, tool box and one ramp in a small unit in Wood Street. Two weeks later John won a major commercial customer contract. The business grew and two years later expanded into the adjoining unit where an MOT bay and more repair ramps were installed.

Under EU rules, owners may have their vehicles serviced by independent garages, as opposed to only franchised dealerships, without invalidating the manufacturer's warranty. The old arrangement was judged to represent "an unjustified restriction for the customer". We have always followed both requirements and in fact we use only OEM spare parts, not alternatives.

As a regular customer you will get to know our technicians - unlike a main dealer where you will probably never come into contact with one. At the other end of the scale we use our own staff to assist the testing technician, although we know that it is not everyone's ambition to be hoisted 6ft up in the air on an MOT ramp!
