read moreSpecial thanks for standing up in court for me that last day, you believed in me and have made a significant difference to my family's life. And for that I'm eternally grateful. With funding from the Smallwood Trust we are working in partnership with women's organisations in Coventry to improve economic outcomes for women by providing joined up front line support. RIPPLE is a unique model of public legal education (funded by the Legal Education Foundation) to health and social care service-users and/or their carers and the organisations that advocate and support them.
About Us
read moreWe want to live in a society where people's rights are upheld, their needs met and they are enabled to thrive. We provide free specialist legal advice to those most in need and use legal processes to fight social exclusion. We advocate for people, challenge unfair decisions, take cases to the highest courts and work in partnerships with other support services. As well as helping people move from crisis to stability, we deliver services that help people anticipate problems by acting early and tackling the root cause.
Our Team
read moreEmma is the Programme Manager for IGNITE, a partnership with Grapevine, Childrens' Services and Whitefriars Housing. Emma has worked in a variety of operational roles for the third sector including Voluntary Service Overseas Kazakhstan, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and a Stroke Survivors Project in Hackney. She also worked for Coventry as Young people's manager at the New Deal for Communities in Wood End and as Care Act Implementation Manager. The Ignite role combines Emma's enthusiasm to find solutions to some of our most difficult social problems with the need to strategically encourage others around the change needed in public services if we are to help people earlier and more effectively in overcoming difficulties and preventing crisis.
Our history
read moreThe national Law Centre movement was started in the 1970s by radical lawyers who were disappointed in the failure of the welfare state to eradicate poverty and deliver a more equal society. Coventry Law Centre was founded in 1976 by four Councillors: Tom McLatchie, Gilbert Richards, Arthur Waugh Senior and Charles Ward. Coventry City Council has been a key supporter of our work ever since. Central England Law Centre Ltd was formed after Coventry Law Centre opened an office in Birmingham in 2013.
