With 290 or so students, aged 8 - 18, Chetham's is the biggest specialist Music School in the UK and the only Music School located in the North of England. In the middle of Manchester, our vibrant cosmopolitan city centre location complements a dynamic music programme - we regularly collaborate with the city's leading cultural venues on a array of projects and initiatives, to present exciting opportunities for our students. Chetham's is an important part of the North West's rich cultural heritage, housed in buildings that are nearly 600 years old and boasting a truly unique and magical atmosphere.

This is a place where music is not taught. It is lived and shared and enjoyed! Excellent in every respect: outstanding building common spaces and classrooms; superb auditoriums with the Stoller Hall newly opened; quality instruments; but most importantly staff dedication and support on one hand and students's talents and determination on the other: these are the founding stones of the excellence Chetham's School of Music is set to pass down generation after generation. Well done everyone, it's such a pleasure every time I am able to spend some time within those ancient and less ancient walls!

Last night's performance of Haydn's Creation was fab - it breathed new life into a work I've heard and sung in many times. A very fitting end to my daughter's time at a school which has provided her with all she needs to move on to conservatoire. The musical training goes without saying - it's the care, sense of community, self-discipline and moving towards independent living which have been so vital. I look forward to returning and hearing wonderful music making in the future.

The 2017 national finals of the EPTA piano competition were hosted at Chethams, showcasing the excellence of this remarkable music institution. The event took place in the exquisite Carole Nash Hall, featuring a magnificent Bosendorfer concert grand piano. Chethams truly stands out as an exceptional school for music enthusiasts.
