From the Swiss Alps to the heart of Cheshire, our dedicated team shares a lifelong passion for animals. Steve Dace, the proprietor of Valais Blacknose Sheep Cheshire, developed a love for poultry at the tender age of 6 while growing up on a smallholding with approximately 6 acres of land. His childhood dream was to own land when he grew older. Now, with a family that eagerly embraces the hands-on aspects of farm life, especially during lambing seasons and shows, Steve has fulfilled that dream. Valais Blacknose Sheep Cheshire now boasts over 45 acres of land in the heart of Cheshire, where they've established a thriving Valais Blacknose flock.In addition to sheep, Steve also cares for Valais Blackneck Goats, hailing from Switzerland, known for their fantastic personalities. He also specializes in Laced Wyandotte Chickens and Sebastopol Geese, proudly exhibiting them at national and federation shows.

read moreThe Valais Blacknose, a heritage breed originating from the Upper Valais region of the German-speaking part of Switzerland, is known by various names such as Blacknosed Swiss, Visp, Visperschaf, Walliser Schwarznaseschaf, and Wallis Blacknose. Despite its popularity in its native region, this domestic sheep breed is not widely distributed globally, with a population of 13,700 herdbook animals. The breed exhibits a reproduction rate of approximately 1.6 lambs per year. Unlike many sheep breeds, Valais sheep breed throughout the year, lacking the seasonality observed in the majority of sheep. Our 4 girls came from Steve, as first time sheep parents Steve was incredibly helpful and is always really supportive with tips and advice when I have any questions. The girls themselves are beautiful - we cant wait to expand our little valais family even more in the New Year

What can I say about Steve and his daughter they put their heart and soul into everything they do and it shows. I cannot imagine my life without our sheep they are incredible. I have to thank you for everything the way they have been brought into the world and the way you have brought up the sheep have shown in their loving and fun filled nature. They bring us joy everyday. We have not only got sheep from you but our sheep dog/puppy Bowie and our chickens eggs that i had the pleasure in hatching. I can not recommend Valais Blacknose sheep Cheshire enough.

known Steve a while now and had a few dealings with him , would recommend to anyone ,you can buy sheep with confidence knowing they are what he says and he'll go out of his way to help you ,don't think I've ever known anyone more passionate about the breed , his rams have certainly put our flock in the right direction.

10 Star what can I say Steve was a pleasure to deal with we put our deposit down on 2 of his beautifully bred valais. sadly we had to back out for now as my husband is in end stage renal failure , Steve was brilliant never expected to get our deposit back but he did because of our circumstances...Will deal with Steve again and recommend ..We will get our valais off Steve once transplantation has taken place for my husband hopefully a kidney from me ...Thanks Steve

I couldn’t recommend buying off Steve enough! We bought a stunning ewe lamb a few weeks ago. She’s settling in really well. Steve was so helpful when it came to making the decisions and even educated us into more depth about the breed. We can’t wait to see how our little one turns out!! Thank you.

I recently purchased two Valais Blacknose Lambs off Steve and they are a superb example of the breed- well marked, fabulous fleeces and amazing temperaments.
It is clear to see the vast depth of knowledge, passion and dedication Steve possesses for the breed.
